1st Commodores Message

Dear fellow members,

I hope you are all keeping well. I am aware that everyone is adjusting to these uncertain and worrying times and I would like to keep you informed about what your club is doing. You will have seen through the 15 second updates that we are continuing to offer activities such as the online regatta and virtual talks, while continuing to prepare for the summer season.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has written or contacted the club with their ongoing support. It means a lot and is appreciated in these challenging times.

This period of lock down will come to an end and when it does it is important that we are able to reopen the club as quickly and efficiently as possible and that we are ready to offer a full range of racing, training and other activities.

The club is keeping expenditure to a minimum and taking advantage of the Government schemes where we can. We do not know how long this lockdown is going to last but hopefully we will be back on the water very soon. We are a member-owned club and depend on your subscriptions. Our other income sources are on hold during the lockdown.

For our club to weather this crisis it would be helpful if you could pay your subscriptions as soon as possible. By the time we get to the AGM in November we will know the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the Club, and I will include Subscriptions as an Agenda item for discussion. I hope this is fair to all. However, if you find yourself in financial difficulty please contact the General Manager. I would like to thank all members who have already paid their subscriptions, we are incredibly grateful for your support.

I reassure you that we continue to caretake the club. The new pontoons are just waiting to be used.

I look forward to seeing you at the club soon.

Best wishes,

Nick Harris
