7th Commodores Message

Dear Members,

I am very proud of you our club members particularly our safety coxswains, our staff and my fellow committee members in how we have faced the many challenges of this Pandemic lockdown. It is wonderful to know that we have exceeded 500 sailing and windsurfing sessions since reopening the club. Although we still have some way to go until things return to "normal", I'm confident that we will be able to overcome any further challenges.

Thank you for adhering to the government guidelines and the club protocols.

I would also like to congratulate the new owners of the club boats we sold and I am delighted with the take up of club hire boats, it's been good to see you out on the water. Together we are really making the best of this situation we find ourselves in. We have recently run our first shore based sailing course and are now booking in private tuition sessions for individuals and families.

It gives me great pleasure, and excitement, to tell you that we are looking at a return to racing for both Sundays and Wednesday evenings. There will be a course laid with fixed marks, a race officer and information about the course will be on the official sailors notice board at the club.

We have amended the protocols so please take some time to read these and in particular see the revised, extended, opening times and sailing hours.

Your feedback has been wonderful and we have used this in combination with the feedback from the safety coxswains and the staff to amend the protocols.

The new protocols can be viewed in the members area of the website.

However, if you have not sailed for a while please can I urge you to be considerate and conservative in your sailing. Please follow current government guidelines of maintaining social distancing of 2m when possible or 1m with mitigation.

Our priority remains the safety and health of members and staff and we appreciate your support during this time. Any member displaying or suffering from symptoms of Covid 19 should follow the government guidelines and self isolate and stay at home.

Thank you all for your continued support. Enjoy your sailing and we look forward to hearing from you.
